Natural, Non-Invasive Therapies

Claire in Chair Clinic — Align Health Therapies in Woonona, NSW

Naturopathy is a complementary therapy which encompasses nutritional

and herbal medicine to help support your body in bringing it back to

balance.

At Align Health Therapies, the tools we use in a naturopathic appointment include comprehensive case taking, physical assessment, pathology analysis (a full blood count from your GP can be very helpful) and sometimes additional testing once your initial appointment is complete.

An appointment with Claire will be an in-depth review of your current

state of health. A care plan is then created to support you in getting you

closer to your health goals, whether this is planning for a

baby, balancing your hormones, adjusting your gut health, improving your

nutrition or any other area of health you want to see improve.

Naturopathy and nutrition prioritises the most natural, least

invasive and least toxic therapies to remedy signs and symptoms of

disease. The aim is to promote wellness by viewing the body as an

integrated whole.

What to Expect From Your Treatment

A Man Is Writing in A Notebook Next to A Bowl of Salad — Align Health Therapies in Woonona, NSW

During your appointment with Claire, a personalised care plan will be devised with dietary advice, supplement suggestions, herbal medicine suggestions and lifestyle recommendations. This will carefully be crafted into a document which will be sent to you after your appointment. This will have easy to follow instructions on how to start making changes to your diet and which nutritional elements are most important for you to focus on.

Depending on the areas of health you want to see improve, Claire may suggest further testing in the form of:

  • Gut microbiome tests (via stool sampling)
  • Hormone testing (via blood pathology)
  • Vitamin & mineral tests (via blood pathology or a urine test)

The typical time between appointments varies between 2-4 weeks for a follow-up after your initial appointment to maintain momentum and provide some level of accountability with following through on advice.

The areas you may be likely to see changes within yourself are things like increased energy, better sleep, more regular bowel movements and over time, clearer skin, better mood and improvements to your hormones and cycle (for women).

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some common questions people have about naturopathy which we hope will answer questions you may have.

  • What should I expect from treatment?

  • Do I have to make changes to my diet?

Depending on what your areas of need are, you will likely be making some changes to your diet. Claire will work with you to make sure her suggestions are those which you will be able to implement.

  • Do I have to take vitamins or herbal tonics?

Not necessarily. If you prefer to focus only on your diet, then that is what Claire will put her focus and attention on. However, when treating hormonal conditions and areas of gut health, supplements and herbs can be a valuable tool in speeding up the process of healing.

  • Can I claim my appointment on private health?

Unfortunately not. Naturopathy is not covered on private health anymore.

  • Do you work with my GP or specialist doctor?

Claire can work with your other health care professionals. She has worked in medical practices over the last 10 years and has working relationships with various GP's and specialists. She will write up letters of correspondence to your doctor if requested to keep them informed of your treatment plan. This is especially helpful for patients going through IVF treatment.
